  'Jack the Dripper'

  1912 Wyoming doğumlu olan, 1956 yılında Time dergisinin 'Damlatıcı Jack' (Jack the Dripper), olarak nitelendirdiği Jackson Pollock, Amerikan resim sanatının en önemli isimlerinden biriydi. Diğer çağdaşları arasında kullandığı tekniğiyle öne çıkan Pollock, resime yeni bir anlayış ve biçim getirdi.

  Üzerinde uçsuz bucaksız hayal dünyasını yansıttığı tuvalini yere serip, boyayı fırçasıyla damla damla akıtarak iç dünyasını her defasında yeniden keşfeden Pollock, tekniğini şu sözleriyle ifade etmişti:
  
  "Yerde daha rahat ediyorum. Resmin bir parçası oluyorum ve daha yakın hissediyorum, etrafında yürüyüp, dört tarafından çalışabiliyorum... Resim yaparken ne yaptığımın farkında değilim. Bu sadece ne yaptığımı görmek için kısa bir tanıma süreci..."
